About Discover RSG
The DISCOVER team is focused on developing an integrated and expanded system of hardware, software, middleware and human resources to facilitate
data-driven science at Cornell. The underpinning of discovery is an ensemble of data sets accessible for creatively motivated, cross-disciplinary analysis
using an array of data mining and visualization tools.
DISCOVER began with grassroots discussions among the Cornell research community, aimed at addressing current and future challenges associated with data discovery,
reuse, and curation. Recognizing the need for a broad collaboration that bridges multiple scientific domains, library and archival science, computer and information science,
the DISCOVER team responded collectively to a call for proposals sponsored by the Vice Provost for Research. The DISCOVER teams proposal was successful and was funded by the
Vice Provost’s office in July 2008.
The DISCOVER team is currently recruiting for two Data Analyst Consultants to work closely with domain scientists, digital library and data specialists, and colleagues in
the Center for Advanced Computing (CAC). The Data Analysts will identify areas of commonality between different scientific domains as well as differences as part of a
university-wide team focused on data-driven science.
