Cornell University is recruiting for two Data Analyst Consultants to work closely with domain scientists, digital library and data specialists, and colleagues in the Center for Advanced Computing (CAC). Candidates for these positions will consult with researchers across a variety of disciplines to improve access to scientific information. The Data Analyst Consultants will reside at the CAC but will work closely with Cornell research groups, the Cornell University Library, and others to proactively define data management needs, help develop solutions, and identify new infrastructures needed for data management. S/he will identify areas of commonality between different scientific domains as well as differences as part of a university-wide team focused on data-driven science. In addition, the Data Analyst Consultants will conduct pilot projects, develop a cyberinfrastructure white paper to assist and guide Cornell in planning for handling large research datasets, and identify and facilitate responses to funding opportunities and collaborations.

Both positions require strong communication and collaboration skills as well as strong analytical and project management competencies. Candidates for these positions should have an advanced degree in the sciences (physical, life, or computer/information), a working knowledge of high-performance computing workflows, visualization, and data mining tools, as well as several years of experience in managing data for a large project.
